My organization uses this program to validate potential insureds financial performance. The information provided helps us determine financial strength of our insureds. It has really helped us identify which organizations are most likely to either pay us late or cancel for nonpayment. It has helped us get a better understanding of insureds financial situations.

This would be incredibly useful for any organization needing a broad financial picture of an organization. D&B Analytics has been a game-changer for us. Their team developed a "Custom Score" algorithm that pulls in tons of data to create a score for each new prospect that comes to us, between 1 and 10. If the company scores above that number, credit terms are offered. If they score below that number, it's cash in advance. Simple, fast and accurate. I don't know what we did without it before we started using it.

Last year, I recall that we had a prospective advertiser demand credit terms or they wouldn't do business with us. I checked their Custom Score and it was 'below the line' so I rejected credit terms and said if they wanted to advertise with us, they would need to pay cash in advance. They blew a fuse but I said the numbers are the numbers. So, it was easy to defend the decision.

We review credit status of all customers upon receipt of their first order and for orders greater than a set amount. Upon initial order we will review through D&B. Subsequently, we will run reports every three years, or if we feel some uncertainty about the account. Corporate does not authorize us to share AR data with D&B which would allow for better monitoring of the accounts.

  • Reduce boilerplate language in reports, too much paper for those of us who have to print reports
  • D&B seems to pride itself on complicated mathematical evaluations of companies. For those of us who run simple operations, simple answers clearly provided would be a real plus.
We primarily rely on the PAYDEX score and credit limit recommendations as the foundation of our credit decisions. Those metrics seem relatively straight-forward and are useful. Other metrics, such as the percentage possibility that a company could go late on payments seems silly. Almost all companies we deal with do not pay within the terms granted and displayed on our invoices. We deal with smaller companies (although the largest ones are not that dissimilar to the rest of our customer base) and they don't necessarily follow set patterns in payment. I have found D&B less helpful in dealing with companies with industry-wide issues, such as the coal industry. Nothing seems to exist to help me evaluate, in a simple way, the risk of dealing with these types of companies.

D&B product functionality and performance assist in our credit process and decision making to open new accounts for our company. The information gathered contributes to our Credit Managers in improving our business process and customer relations and service. It is a great tool and we use the product daily. Also we received great training and are able to contact D&B at any time for assistance with any issues or additional training.

It gives a deeper dive into credit to cash for companies seeking less impact which is helpful. Managing Risk goes a long way and D&B Finance Analytics makes it much easier to do so.

We run credit reporting & monitoring on our largest customers. Due to our business model and SOX controls, it is not necessary we use all the functionality that D&B Finance Analytics offers.

D&B Finance Analytics allows you to customize an automated decision making tool - aiding in credit extension decisions. In addition there are plenty of tools that can be leveraged and integrations available to export credit scoring into your ERP or CRM systems or importing aging details... both in an effort to help monitor customers who are credit risks.

As an Account Manager who is supporting a portfolio of businesses and also prospecting in a region, I found that D&B is a great tool to vet revenue, banking information, employees, contact information, etc.. for existing and new customers. 80% of the time I have used D&B for prospecting. By entering in a company, I am easily able to retrieve the most up to date information, so that I can target them from a sales perspective. The remaining 20% is used to vet existing customers, to see how closely D&B's information reflects to what I see in Financial Statements.
  • Prospecting; Identifying private companies, and then retrieving high level data about them
  • Impressive data on all businesses. Rarely was I unable to locate a business that I searched for on D&B Finance Analytics.
  • Contact information. I have found that the contact information was relatively up to date so that if I wanted to reach out to the company, I knew that I was able to get a hold of someone.
  • Searching by custom parameters; The tool is restrictive in that I must search for a specific company. Instead, it would be great if I could search by location, for example, and the tool returns back all companies in that location. I found that the tool does not do a good job being exhaustive in its search
  • API; if there was a way to plug in to the data, rather than use the front end, to search for a list of customers. I would like to plug in to D&B's database, inputting parameters (revenue, location, bank, etc..) and then see what the results are. This would be a huge efficiency and effectiveness improvement versus manually typing in company names and searching for companies one by one.
I have used D&B analytics both in my professional and educational pursuits and I have recommended it all the time to colleagues and classmates. Because the tool is very easy to use and provided back high level information for one to do more research against, D&B is a good start to anyone's journey whether it be a school report or sales prospecting.

In class, we would use D&B to gain insights on private companies who are competitors in a certain SIC/NAICS space. Similarly in my professional pursuits, D&B is great to understand if a company is a small business or commercial business or a national business. This helps in prospecting as an account manager, where we can provide credit needs depending on a minimum revenue amount. D&B is not the best tool from an efficiency perspective, because to get specific company information one must go into that company's profile.

I use D&B in assessing the credit line on existing accounts and when establishing new accounts.

  • More summary at the start of the review; leave graphics at the end so I can skip printing everything for the file - some reports are into 20+ pages.
It is very well suited for customers with payment history. It would be great if it had more depth on smaller companies with less public history available - or no history. If D&B could send out credit inquiries as an add-on, it might result in quicker responses when a newer company or less public data applies.

This is now being used for our new customers and reviewing whether they should be customers. We also have provided our list of current customers so getting the updates on those is also so helpful to identify changes and updates in their standings for us to reevaluate. It has proven to help the company see things that they never took into account in the past so this is such great support. I like the graphs and the levels that it rates the company in different areas for risk and payment timing. So helpful!!!

We use this product to conduct credit reviews and investigations that help us establish, increase or reject credit limit requests. We also verify names, dba's, addresses, family tree/corporate structure, years in business and any use any pertinent information that is relevant to the credit review process. We've integrated D&B with Salesforce and allow our Sales Team to kickstart the onboarding process. We are currently looking at adding modules for additional functionality (Account Manager).
  • Provides good and relevant credit information
  • Hit rate is very high due to D&B's massive database
  • Integration with Salesforce makes the process more efficient
  • Investigations are not thorough enough, specifically the answers are vague and leaves me with additional questions. It might just be the format.
  • The optics itself is not great. It could be made to look and feel better for the user. It's very mechanical.
  • It would be good to get better explanations on viability ratings. Sometimes I have low risk ratings with a 1% probability of failure within the next month and then sometimes I see high risk ratings with the same probability. It would be good to define what "High Risk" is because 1% is probably not high in most people's eyes.
D&B works well in a fast paced environment where dynamic decisioning is necessary. Again, the ease of use with integration makes the department run more efficiently. It doesn't work very well for many small businesses where there's not a lot of information available causing very conservative scoring. It would be great if D&B could improve the quantity and quality of info on small businesses.

We use the product to look up company information quickly and to have all the information in one place. Used to obtain DUNS and also to confirm family tree among other research.

  • Private company information is lacking (but this appears to be the case with a lot of other products)
  • Admin feature should have option to skip some mandatory fields (e.g. address of a user)
  • Some of the information appears to be outdated
This product is useful if you are looking for an overall snapshot of a company to see key figures. It's not as useful if you are looking for up to the minute information as the company data could be slightly outdated, and it's not a good tool if you are looking at mostly private companies.

Our attorneys have us run reports on prospective clients to check what their financial stress score, to determine habits of paying bills on time.
  • Allows an investigation if we feel there is not enough data on a company

  • The PDF'd report often does not show the same friendly view that is on the webpage. Seems some graphics are always missing. Maybe not the underlying data, but the graphics.
  • Graphics can sometimes look confusing upon delivery of the report.
  • You could use a full description at the end of the report that explains every sector, even it is blank for that sector. When someone asks for what all the sectors and scores mean, it took me a long time to do 5 to 10 screenshots. If guidance was available, I did not see it. It should be at the end of every report.
Rarely misses finding data on a company. Offers a free follow-up investigation upon request. Sometimes the graphics on a delivered report look less appealing than the web page version.

Use d & b analytics to check on a potential new customers credit history and record of payments to determine if we feel they are credit worthy and use the recommended credit limit as a possible starting base to assign credit limit. New risk assessment is also helpful. The d & b alerts are also helpful for business that are at risk due to down trends. It is also useful if we are unsure on whether to give a customer credit or increase that credit when we ask them for financials and advise that there is not enough information to go on from just the D & B.

  • IT WOULD BE MOST HELPFUL IF IT PROVIDED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION MORE SPECIFIC THAN LOCATION APPEARS TO BE CLOSED DUE TO NON-ACTIVITY. PERHAPS INFORMATION ON THE MAIN PARENT OR ANOTHER SHIP TO LOCATION WOULD BE USEFUL SO THAT WE KNOW THEY ARE STILL ACTUALLY IN BUSINESS.
Well suited to provide a baseline credit limit based on the max credit limit recommended and to either increase or decrease the credit limits of customers. Not as helpful when it says unable to confirm active operations and any previous history is not shown. Perhaps checking for a DBA or other corporate link for some of these companies might be helpful since sometimes it is only a specific location and not necessarily the entire company.

I use D&B as a prescreening for potential customers on a daily basis. Sometimes I find it hard due to multiple finds on the request to distinguish the correct customer I am looking for. However, it sometimes comes in handy to see if the customer is operating under multiple identities.

We track both current customers and potential clients to make credit related decisions. We review periodically and make related accessments. D&amp;B has been a very reliable source in decision making for both existing and prospective customers.<br><br><br><br>

Every new customer that we acquire is screened through D&B Finance Analytics. After the initial screening, I am able to get current information that will tell me if the customer is still on a path toward viability. There have been a few times I was able to hold off on sales to a customer before they entered bankruptcy because of the alerts given by D&B Finance Analytics.

Being able to evaluate and keep track of new and existing customers is a necessity in today's business climate. Having a section on the website that is specifically for changes in the customer's information (both positive and negative) is such a great tool that I use all the time. I can easily see which path customers are on and be on top of their payments and make sure we are not at risk of losing money if I see a negative trend.
